On October 10, Russian-Armenian Univercity welcomed the Armenian Tourism Federation for a presentation designed to inform and inspire students about the tourism industry in Armenia. The gathering took place on campus and brought together faculty members, students majoring in hospitality, geography, management, and other related fields.

The presentation opened with an in‐depth look at Armenia’s current tourism landscape, including key trends in both inbound and outbound travel. Federation representatives shared recent statistics and illustrated how tourism has become a significant and growing part of Armenia’s economy.

A large portion of the event was dedicated to an interactive dialogue: students asked questions about the realities of working in tourism, career paths available, and how the sector is adapting to global challenges and technological changes. Participants were encouraged to consider that tourism today is more than just “places and sights”—it’s also about service quality, digital tools, cultural exchange, sustainability, and innovation.

One of the highlights was the announcement of a new training initiative entitled “Outbound Tourism & Amadeus Reservation System.” This eight‐week program will commence this fall, combining instruction in outbound travel management with hands‐on training in using the Amadeus reservation software. Graduates of the program will earn two certificates—one for theory and one for practical application. The modules will be led by seasoned professionals who bring both academic and industry experience.

The Federation also used the opportunity to survey students’ interest, abilities, and expectations, in order to tailor the training to real needs. Their goal is to ensure that participants leave with up-to-date skills that mirror what the tourism sector demands today.
